About Tata

Tata Motors began in 1945 as the Tata Engineering and Locomotive Company (TELCO), building locomotives and then trucks and buses. Its passenger-car story began with the Sierra in 1991 and the Indica of 1998, the first car designed and built entirely in India. Tata also owns Jaguar Land Rover, pioneered mass-market electric cars in India, and in 2018 its Nexon became the first India-made car to score five stars in the Global NCAP crash test.
