About BYD

BYD — short for "Build Your Dreams" — was founded in Shenzhen in 1995 by Wang Chuanfu as a maker of rechargeable batteries, and moved into cars in 2003. It now builds only electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, using its own Blade lithium iron phosphate battery, and is one of the world's largest makers of new-energy cars. BYD began selling passenger cars in India in 2021 with the e6 electric MPV.
